MTD bridging software: keep your spreadsheet for Making Tax Digital
Bridging software connects the spreadsheet where you already keep your records to HMRC. You keep working in Excel or Google Sheets; the bridging tool reads the totals and sends your quarterly updates.
HMRC recognises 78 products with bridging: 24 are bridging only, the others also keep records. 22 have a free version and 55 can also send the final tax return.
Is bridging right for you?
- Yes if your spreadsheet works for you and your accountant, and you mainly need to send figures to HMRC.
- Probably not if you want bank feeds, receipt capture or invoicing: full bookkeeping software will save more time.
- Check whether the tool can send the final tax return, or only quarterly updates.
